Must have experience as a medical assistant in a medical office.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to exam rooms in order of appointment times.
• Interviews patients to obtain history, family history, and history of allergies and medications and records information on patients’ charts.
• Prepares treatment room according to scheduled procedure or anticipate physicians needs if non-scheduled procedure is likely.
• Assists physician with biopsies and surgical procedures such as excisions, ED&C, etc.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
• Straightens and cleans exam rooms after patient visits.
• Completely and correctly fills out all required pathology and laboratory requisition documents.
• Document laboratory pick-ups.
• Call Labs for outstanding tests.
• Answers telephone inquiries from patients, or primary care physicians.
• Stocks all exam rooms.
• Receive, process and document all requirements, submit the required documentation, and update the Prior Authorization submission documents when necessary Prioritize incoming authorization requests according to urgency
