The Respiratory Care Assistant is responsible for assembling, cleaning, and testing Class III respiratory therapy equipment and performing surface disinfection. They also conduct patient care procedures like electrocardiograms and assist the Special Procedures team with bronchoscopy duties.
No prior experience is required, but candidates must hold a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. An associate degree is indicated as the study level, and the ability to communicate professionally in English is essential.
The Respiratory Care Assistant assembles, cleans, tests and inspects "Class III" respiratory therapy equipment and performs surface disinfection of departmental equipment as needed. Performs simple and moderately complex patient care procedures such as electrocardiograms to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiopulmonary dysfunction. Performs duties to assist the Special Procedures team with bronchoscopy duties. Is trained on the job to perform these duties as well as to stock departmental supplies. Records information and keeps appropriate records. Performs other duties as needed.
No experience required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
