Perform various sonography procedures to produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by radiologists. Coordinate patient flow, maintain equipment, and ensure proper archiving of images in PACS.
Must be a graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or have equivalent on-the-job experience. Requires BLS certification and registration or eligibility with ARRT, ARDMS, or CCI.
Ultrasound Technologist Full-Time, First Shift BHCOR-Radiology Diagnostic I Corbin, KY The Ultrasound department, also known as Sonography, specializes in imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the body’s internal structures. Obstetric Ultrasound: Monitoring fetal development during pregnancy. Abdominal Ultrasound: Evaluating organs like the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and pancreas. Vascular Ultrasound: Checking for blood clots, blockages, or circulation issues in veins and arteries. Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Evaluating soft tissue injuries, joint abnormalities, and fluid collections. Provides health care services by applying sonic energy to assist in diagnosis. Performs sonography procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by a Radiologist or a licensed independent practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Recognizes various patient conditions in order to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or procedure.
Produce high-quality diagnostic images, ensure proper archiving in PACS, and send images to tele-radiology as needed. Prepare and document image releases and participate in peer review and accreditation processes. Assist leadership with equipment, software, and maintenance coordination. Restock supplies, report equipment or safety issues, and help manage inventory and resource needs. Stay current on regulatory standards and support EHR updates or workflow changes. Verify patient identity and orders, document patient-care events, and perform required safety/time-out procedures. Follow exam protocols, provide initial interpretations, and coordinate patient flow with nursing and transport. Monitor patients during exams and assist Radiologists and other providers during procedures. Maintain professional conduct, support department workflow, and help train students and new employees. Follow hospital policies, safety requirements, infection control practices, and participate in required trainings and drills.
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent. Direct on the job experience can replace program requirements.
