The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic procedures in the hospital, adhering to state and NRC regulations, to provide diagnostic images for patient condition identification or treatment planning. This involves maintaining and operating cameras to map radioactive drugs and preparing/administering radiopharmaceuticals according to protocols.
Candidates must graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine program, complete all competencies and training, and pass a certification board exam (CNMT, R.T.(N)(CT)(ARRT), or RTRCT) to operate hybrid systems. CT Advanced certification by ARRT is required within one year of hire, and 1-2 years of experience in Nuclear Tech, PET/CT, and SPECT/CT is preferred.
