About the role

The Mohs Histotechnician supports Mohs micrographic surgery by preparing and cutting frozen sections of tissue specimens using Mohs techniques, processing samples, and performing necessary staining for slide preparation. This role also involves documenting all processes, ensuring CLIA compliance, maintaining laboratory equipment, and collaborating seamlessly with surgical and clinical teams.

This position requires travel and will be covering our offices in Desert Ridge, Scottsdale, Chandler, and Mesa. Purpose

The Mohs Histotechnician will be responsible for supporting Mohs micrographic surgery procedures by providing high-quality histological services within a dynamic clinical environment. This role requires attention to detail, precision, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced atmosphere. This position is primarily focused on Mohs Histotechnology responsibilities. While occasional Medical Assistant support may be needed, MA duties are minimal and infrequent. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and cut frozen sections of tissue specimens utilizing Mohs surgical techniques. Process and embed tissue samples accurately and efficiently for histopathological examination. Perform staining techniques for slide preparation and ensure quality control measures are met. Document all steps and processes associated with specimen processing and maintain accurate records. Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety and regulatory standards as outlined by CLIA. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to support uninterrupted workflow. Collaborate with the surgical and clinical teams to ensure a seamless operation during Mohs procedures. Provide guidance and support to other laboratory staff as necessary. Engage in continuous education and training to improve histotechnical skills and knowledge. Other related duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or team lead. Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or a related field. Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) is preferred. Prior experience within a histology or Mohs laboratory is strongly preferred. Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members and patients. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or a related field, with strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills being essential for success. Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) by ASCP and prior experience in a histology or Mohs laboratory are strongly preferred.
