Report to: Supervisor & Director of Nursing

Position Summary

Administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records using electronic medical records. Works under the supervision of licensed nurses. Verifies identity of patient receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms or records. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Presents medication to patient and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures.
• Takes vital signs or observes patient to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
• Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.
• Gives direct patient care, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding patients, and assisting in examinations and treatments.
• May receive supply of ordered medications and apportion, mix, or assemble drugs for administration to patient.
• May record and restock medication inventories
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• The ability to communicate effectively with all residents in a professional, respectful manner
• Current Medication Administration License
• Knowledge in all areas of local Health Department, OSHA, and other state regulatory agencies relevant to healthcare services
• Ability to pass Level ll background screening. https://info.flclearinghouse.com [https://info.flclearinghouse.com] EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have at least one-year experience as a Med Tech ( 6-hour Med Tech certification),with current and unrestricted license.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. o Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population. o Interacts with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner. o Ability to respond promptly to resident needs. o Supports organization's goals and values. o Balances team and individual responsibilities. o Ability to work flexible hours as needed. o Ability to perform tasks with frequent interruptions. o Ability to handle multiple priorities. o Competent in organizational, time management skills. o Ability to work semi-independently without direct supervision.

• Environmental adaptability
• Works primarily indoors & outdoors in a climate-controlled setting.
• Team Members may be exposed to blood and/or body fluids with potential exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases.
• Possible exposure to unpleasant odors.
• Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual.
