Assesses patient physical and psychosocial status to formulate and implement comprehensive treatment plans. Collaborates with healthcare teams to manage patient care, perform clinical procedures, and participate in oncology research and quality improvement.
Requires a Master's degree in Nursing or a Bachelor's in Physician Assistant Studies with corresponding New York State licensure and certification. Advanced Practitioner II candidates must have at least two years of experience in a cancer or acute care facility.
Required Education and Experience For Advanced Practice Provider I Nurse Practitioner Educational Path: 1. License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York; and 2. Current New York State Nurse Practitioner certification; and 3. Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA); and 4. Master’s or higher-level degree in Nursing. NOTE: As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) within nine (9) months of their appointment to this title as required by Medicare. OR Physician Assistant Educational Path: 1. License to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of New York; and 2. Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission for Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) or other national certifying body recognized by the New York State Education Department; and 3. Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in Physician Assistant Studies; or 4. Bachelor’s or higher-level degree and completion of a Physician Assistant Certificate Program recognized by the New York State Education Department. AND For Advanced Practice Provider II Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Educational Path: The equivalent of two (2) years of full-time progressively responsible Advanced Practice Provider experience in a service line at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center or at a cancer care or acute care facility recognized as comparable by Roswell Park. NOTE: 1. As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of their appointment to this title. 2. Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
