This role involves supplementing nursing staff across the Cardiac, Neonatal, and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, requiring accountability for professional practice based on established standards and regulations. Responsibilities include demonstrating transformational leadership, structural empowerment through maintaining compliance, and exhibiting exemplary professional practice in complex patient care settings.
Candidates must possess a minimum of an ASN degree, though a BSN is preferred, along with an active Registered Nurse license in the District of Columbia and current CPR certification. Essential requirements include strong organizational skills, the ability to adjust to changes, and demonstrating critical thinking and professional conduct while floating between critical care units.
The Critical Care Float Pool supplements the nursing staff for the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. All nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, Children's National Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care require registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. Children's National support the development of RN relationships within the community; specifically those relationships associated with the health and well being of the community at large.
Minimum Education ASN (Required) BSN (Preferred)
Required Skills/Knowledge The licensed Registered Nurse will successfully complete the hospital and nursing orientation at Children’s National. Role model organizational skills, adjust for changes and is able to complete assignment on time.
