What you will do Performs receptionist, clerical and data entry activities related to patient care such as scheduling appointments and Diagnostic Imaging exams, lab call backs, prior authorizations, retrieving medical histories, filling out patient paperwork and forms and answering and returning phone calls.
Proactively assists patients throughout the visit as needed, accompanies patients to the exam/procedure room.
Responds to patient needs in a professional and friendly manner.
Collects and records patient data including height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration rate and blood pressure, and basic information about the presenting and previous conditions.
Records pertinent patient information, surgical history, reviews systems, past medical history, social history, medical management including but not limited to allergies, etc.
May assist with physical examination preparations.
Performs EKGs, removes sutures/ staples, and changes sterile and non-sterile dressings as directed.
Effectively collects and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis utilizing non-invasive techniques, including urine, sputum and stool.
Assists with undressing, cleansing and positioning patients for specific procedures.
Perform skin tests and venipuncture of skin for purpose of withdrawing blood.
Administers medication and immunizations under the direction of the physician or advanced practice provider.
May authorize prescription refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies ordered and authorized by a physician or advanced practice provider.
Administers first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation in an emergency.
Prepares and cleans exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
Ensures instruments are cleaned and sterilized and contaminated supplies are properly disposed.
Prepares orders, sorts, stores, and restocks supplies for exam/procedure room.
Duties may include ordering and maintaining stock of supplies.
Provides patient education and instructions under the authorization of the supervising physician.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
