The Orthotic Fitter is responsible for fitting and adjusting prefabricated orthotic devices and educating patients on their proper use. Additionally, the role involves managing inventory and supporting clinical staff with patient intake and documentation.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with strong communication skills and manual dexterity. Previous healthcare experience or a background in Kinesiology or Sports Medicine is preferred but not required.
FlexStaff is seeking a full-time Orthotic Fitter to join our client's team at their Monroe and Nanuet, NY locations (floating). This role will be responsible for fitting, evaluating, and modifying a wide range of orthotic devices. This is a perfect position for someone interested in a healthcare career who enjoys hands-on work with patients in a clinical setting. High school diploma/GED required; associate degree or higher preferred. COF (ABC or BOC) preferred; coursework/exam support available if not yet certified. 2–3+ years in orthotic fitting and patient care, preferably in a multidisciplinary setting. Experience with complex or high-volume caseloads preferred. Proficient with EMRs and documentation best practices. Preferred backgrounds (not required) Athletic Trainer (ATC) Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Physical Therapy Aide/Technician Students or graduates in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or related fields
Evaluate patients and select custom, prefabricated, or off-the-shelf orthoses per clinical assessment and prescription. Fit, align, and adjust devices to optimize comfort, function, and outcomes. Coordinate care with certified practitioners, physicians, therapists, and case managers. Educate patients and caregivers on orthosis use, care, and safety. Mentor entry-level orthotic fitters and clinical assistants. Contribute to complex case reviews and interdisciplinary treatment planning. Document care accurately and compliantly (Medicare, HIPAA, facility policies). Manage inventory; assist with product selection and trials of new technologies. Maintain a clean, safe, organized clinic/workspace. Stay current on orthotic technologies, techniques, and regulations. Participate in on-call rotation.
