Provides physical therapy services under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, including implementing treatment plans and monitoring patient progress. Responsibilities include documenting services, educating patients and families, and assisting with discharge planning.
Miramar, Florida Memorial Rehabilitation Institute provides highly specialized care ranging from complex multiple trauma, stroke and brain injury to physical and speech therapy. Inpatient care is offered at Memorial Regional Hospital South, with outpatient care available in five different locations. We also have a home health team and resources for long-term care at Memorial Manor, while also offering therapy for pediatric developmental diagnosis through Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.
Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, provides physical therapy services.
May assume responsibility for student supervision.Monitors patient's responses to the treatment plan. Regularly communicates patient progress and recommends possible goal revisions to the physical therapist.Documents services provided and patient response/progress.Assists with patient discharge planning.Implements treatment plan developed by supervising therapist using appropriate modalities. Seeks consultation as necessary.Communicates patient status and recommendations to care team.Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and community resource programs.

Requires graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program and a valid State of Florida PTA license. BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross is also required.
