The Session Physician provides vasectomies under local anesthesia at designated health centers. Responsibilities also include clinical consultation for advance practice physicians and participation in quality management and chart audit procedures.
Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree, be licensed in New York State, and be board-certified in Urology or Family Medicine. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in providing vasectomies and current BLS certification are required.
Session physician would provide vasectomies in our Schenectady and/or Newburgh health centers. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Direct Clinical Care (90%): Provides vasectomies under local anesthesia. Clinical Consultation and Training (5%): Provides clinical consultation to advance practice physicians. Administrative (5%): Participates in Center chart audit procedures and reviews laboratory and diagnostic reports as appropriate. Reports to the Regional Medical Director on all medical complications and other matters as needed. Participates in PPGNY’s quality management activities, including Debriefings and Root Cause Analyses, as required. Ensures compliance with PPGNY’s and regulatory agencies’ standards and guidelines. Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies and standard practices in the areas of customer service, ADA and regulatory compliance programs such as HIPAA. Demonstrated ability to manage health-related emergency conditions including independent decision making. Ability to exercise discretion in the handling of confidential information Ability to demonstrate and document evidence-based clinical judgment REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education Related Capability Requirements: Requires successful completion of coursework culminating in certification either as Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy and active status for certification by the American Board of Urology or the American Board of Family Medicine. Must be licensed to practice in New York State. Experience Related Capability Requirements: Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience with vasectomy provision. Requires basic computer/EMR proficiency. Licensures/Certifications: Current NYS Physician License and Registration. Current BLS certification. \n
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS This job operates in a professional office environment. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions in a health center environment. May require travel to other health centers, at times in inclement weather. Requires flexible schedule and during peak activity periods work in excess of 7.5 hours per day and/or 37.5 hours per week.
