Job Summary We are seeking a Part-Time Triage RN to join our dynamic outpatient Endocrinology team! This 16-hour weekly schedule will consist of 2, 8-hour shifts on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30am to 5:00pm. We deliver endocrinology and diabetes care in an outpatient setting located on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital main campus (2014 Washington Street, Newton, MA).

Our endocrinologists provide expert care for diabetes and hormonal disorders, empowering patients to successfully manage their conditions and improve their quality of life. Patients receive state-of-the-art diabetes treatment through our team’s advanced and effective techniques. Additional conditions treated include osteoporosis, thyroid disorders and tumors, and general endocrinology.

The ideal candidate is an RN with a strong background in endocrine and/or diabetes management including experience with insulin pump therapy and continuous glucose monitoring. We also welcome candidates with strong triage experience in primary care or related medical specialties who are exceptional communicators, collaborative team players, thoughtful problem-solvers, and, most importantly, kind and compassionate caregivers.

This Triage RN will collaborate closely with physicians, other nurses, MAs, and additional healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and patient-centered care. The RN will primarily handle phone triage, contributing to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services. Additional responsibilities include:

Patient Care

Working within a nursing pool to triage incoming phone calls, patient gateway messages and gather important clinical information.

Collaborating and communicating with providers to develop patient plans and communicating with patients by phone or EMR.

Connecting patient data to the EMR.

Prescription refills: Evaluating appropriateness of prescription refills and confirming current regimen. Evaluating need for prior authorization appropriateness.

Advocating for patient needs always

Staying informed on current standards of care in endocrinology and applying evidence-based practices in patient care.

Requirements

The role requires a Registered Nurse (RN) license and a certificate or diploma in nursing, with a bachelor's degree preferred. Candidates must demonstrate clinical competence in endocrine or diabetes management, including experience with insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring.
