Short Description Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Acute Care Surgery Key Responsibilities: Patient Assessment & Management: Perform comprehensive assessments of acute surgical patients, develop and implement treatment plans, monitor progress, and adjust care as needed in collaboration with resident and attending physicians.
Critical Care Procedures: Perform bedside procedures such as suturing, drain placement/removal and wound care management.
Coordination of Care: Work closely with surgeons, critical care intensivists, surgery and medicine residents, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care.
Patient Monitoring: Continuously evaluate patient condition, monitor vital signs, and interpret lab results, diagnostic imaging, and other data to guide treatment decisions.
Family Communication: Provide education and emotional support to patients' families, ensuring they are well-informed about the patient's condition, treatment options, and prognosis.
Clinical Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate electronic medical records (EMRs) of patient care, including assessments, treatments, interventions, and outcomes.
Leadership & Education: Serve as a clinical leader through nursing staff education and contribute to the training of students and residents as needed.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current with best practices in emergency surgery care.
Requires a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a valid New Jersey license. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in trauma, emergency medicine, or critical care is preferred.
