As a Unit Clerk in our Perioperative Services Department, you will play an important role in supporting patients, physicians, nurses, and staff throughout the surgical care process. This position serves as a central communication and administrative hub for the department, helping ensure accurate documentation, smooth daily operations, and a positive patient experience. Welcome and assist patients, visitors, physicians, and staff in person and by phone while creating a professional and supportive environment.
Perform clerical and administrative duties related to patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and perioperative documentation.
Answer and direct incoming phone calls, emails, and intercom pages, relay messages, and respond to patient call lights as needed.
Accurately enter physician orders and maintain organized patient charts, records, surgical packets, and other required documentation.
Support pre-operative and post-operative processes by preparing paperwork, gathering information, and ensuring documentation accuracy and confidentiality.
Maintain unit supply inventory by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and verifying deliveries to support daily department operations.
Follow departmental policies and procedures while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment and contributing to overall team success.
Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent required; minimum 2 years of experience in a medical or healthcare setting preferred.
Must obtain and maintain a current American Heart Association approved BLS certification within three (3) months of hire.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred, along with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and effective working relationships with patients, families, providers, co-workers, and the public.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, pay close attention to detail, and respond calmly in fast-paced or emergency situations.
