About the role

The staff nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients from birth through their lifecycle, utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, and evaluate care. They are responsible for maintaining standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities within the organization's framework.

Overview We are a 13-bed unit with 4 overflow antepartum rooms, 2 OR suites and a new 4 bed OB-ED.

We have 24/7 coverage by a Hospitalist, along with a great group of physicians.

Any laboring mom or preterm mom greater than 20 weeks may be seen on this unit; along with postpartum moms needing to be readmitted.

Our goal is to adhere to the AWHONN standards.

We closely monitor staffing to patient census which means—1:2 laboring patients, 1:1 active labor or C-section, 1:3 antepartum patients and 1:4 triage/OB-ED.

We provide patient centered care as the entire health care team work together to care for mother and baby.

Responsibilities

The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Qualifications

Education Graduate from a nursing program Required Bachelor’s Degree Preferred Work Experience No experience required New Graduates of a nursing program eligible Required Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Required Licenses and Certifications RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. Required and BCLS - Basic Life Support Required Additional Licenses and Certifications Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum) Addendum Additional Required Certifications: Labor and Delivery-ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) NRP by the end of orientation period, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start date Business

Requirements

Candidates must be a graduate of a nursing program with a valid Georgia State or Multistate RN license and BCLS certification. While no experience is required for new graduates, a Bachelor's degree and hospital experience are preferred.
