Provides basic, culturally sensitive patient care and hygiene support under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. Responsibilities include operating medical equipment, transporting specimens, and communicating patient condition changes to the medical team.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and a current Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification. Up to six months of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and training is required.
Under the leadership of the departmental Nursing Director and the supervision of a licensed nurse, the Patient Care Technician provides culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate patient care. The Patient Care Technician works under close supervision of a licensed nurse and performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs of patients.
• Education:
Requires and maintains a certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS certification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within the orientation period.)
