Performs a variety of clinical duties which promote a safe and organized environment for the delivery of services to children and their families within the urgent care setting.
This position reports to an Urgent Care supervisor.
Essential Functions Adheres to all Children’s Wisconsin and Urgent Care policies, procedures, and standards.
Ensures confidentiality to our customers by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment; maintains HIPAA compliance.
Provides exceptional care to patients and families to fulfill our patient experience promise.
Regularly performs RN duties and maintains own patient care competencies as determined by position scope of practice.
Notifies provider of any patient needing immediate assistance.
Administers medications; performs point of care testing according to established policies; collects and labels specimens per policy; performs procedures as appropriate; documents accurately in chart; assists with narcotic counts; stock supplies to maintain efficient clinic flow.
May delegate clinical tasks as appropriate.
Performs clinical assessments within scope of practice, including triage.
Effectively prioritizes and categorizes patients based on needs and acuity.
Attends staff meetings and in-services, and keeps abreast of communication that affects patient care, services, and clinic operations.
Provides education and discharge teaching per scope of practice.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.

Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing in order to meet the recommended entry level for a professional nurse required

Experience: 2+ years experience in a primary care or urgent care setting preferred Experience with pediatric patients preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work with a diverse patient population to promote a culturally competent environment. Travel to all Urgent Care locations required. Ability to work daytime, evenings, weekend, and holiday hours. Electronic Health Record proficiency preferred. Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills necessary to work independently in a fast paced multi-functioned department. Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to assist patients, parents, and providers, and other staff. Analytical skills are necessary to assess complex patient conditions effectively. Requires the ability to synthesize multiple sources of information to assist in patient care. Required flexibility in order to prioritize efforts to meet needs of the patients, parents, providers, and other staff. During periods of high volume, additional shifts may be required.
