Admissions Nurse Opportunity River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. Qualifications
- The Admissions Nurse reviews medical and clinical referral information for appropriateness of admission.
- Assess patients through a systematic process of interacting with patient, the patient’s significant others, and the appropriate health care providers.
- When requested, collect and analyze data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, and anticipated discharge planning needs.
- Participate in Emergency Services emergency codes as necessary for the department’s safe operation.
- Completes nursing assessment for admitted patients; performs skin assessments and contraband checks and escorts patients to the floor.
- As time permits, Admissions Nurse may be floated to the Intake department to answer phones or perform assessments of referrals for potential admission to River Oaks Hospital programs.
- May respond to telephone and face-to-face inquiries seeking mental health care or information about River Oaks Hospital services.
- May be utilized by House Supervisor to assist on high acuity or busy units when not performing admission assessments.

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Minimum one-year psychiatric inpatient experience required.
- Current Louisiana State Registered Nurse License CPR certification and training in appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint Handle with Care before on the unit orientation and prior to assisting in a restraining process.
