Provides patient care in the Emergency Department under the supervision of nurses or providers. Responsibilities include collecting specimens, performing EKGs, applying splints, and assisting with clerical and transport tasks.

Under the direction and supervision of a licensed professional nurse (nurse) or Provider (physician or Advanced Practice Provider) the Emergency Department Technician provides care appropriate to the patient populations served.
The ED Tech performs their duties based on the unit care delivery model.
This role collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to deliver care as outlined by the nurse or provider.
ED Technicians assist with blood and specimen collection, splint application, obtaining electrocardiograms and assisting with the use of physiologic monitoring devices.
They also assist by assisting in clerical functions, transporting patients, running errands, transporting equipment and materials (body fluids) as needed.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED and BLS CPR certification. Candidates must be a Certified Nurse Aide, EMT, or have completed specific Centra Training and Skills Validation.
