Respiratory Care Practitioner (Greer Neonatal and ICU) - PRN, Nights

• Job Summary Performs duties necessary to treat patients in accordance with the physician’s order and departmental policy.
• Works independently in all acute and critical care settings.
• Consults with physicians and other personnel and makes recommendations on treatment as appropriate.
• Team members in this job have committed to work a minimum 48-hour commitment for a 6-week period.

• Acts independently to perform respiratory therapy general and critical care procedures in accordance with the physician’s order, departmental policy, and Respiratory Care guidelines or protocols.
• Initiates, monitors and manages patients requiring various types of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
• Initiates and manages various types of airways and associated equipment.
• Obtains blood gasses from all sites.
• Analyzes and reports results.
• Documents and charges for all respiratory care procedures and tasks and provides patient and family education as appropriate.
• Communicates with all members of the healthcare team to include students and nurse shadows.
• Provides an accurate and complete report.
• Makes recommendations as appropriate.
• Communicates well with supervisors, coordinators, or those acting in lieu of the above.
• Adheres to infection control and quality initiatives.
• Performs appropriate cleaning/disinfection and sterilization of equipment between patients as indicated by equipment type and isolation status.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
• Minimum Requirements Education - Associate degree.
• Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program by an accredited school Experience - No experience required.
• In Lieu Of In lieu of education and experience noted above, a diploma and/or experience may be considered.
• Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses Respiratory Care Practitioner license from the state in which work is performed.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• NBRC (credentials must be maintained) BLS NRP, PALS, ACLS, NPS etc. must obtain and maintain certifications as required by work unit.
