The Clinical Secretary is responsible for transcribing physician orders and maintaining the patient census. They also manage department supply levels and handle clerical duties to support the orthopedics unit.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and 6 months to 1 year of related healthcare experience. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and computer operation is required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Transcribe physician orders utilizing order entry system in an accurate and timely manner. Communicates patient/bed activity and pending patient needs per physician order. Order and monitor supply level of department equipment. Maintains patient current and past patient records/information. Maintain an updated census via assigning room numbers for new patient admissions and transfers. Performs clerical duties specific to the department and as assigned. Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision. Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
