The Medication Technician is responsible for administering medications to residents and documenting the process in the MAR. They must monitor resident status and communicate any significant physical or mental changes to the Resident Care Director.
Candidates must possess a state Medication Technician License and a current certification as a nursing assistant or equivalent training. CPR certification is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
Communicates questions, concerns, and/or discrepancies related to medication administration to the Resident Care Director (RCD). Communicates any significant change of mental or physical status of resident to RCD. Documents supervision of self-administration in MAR. Documents/ notifies RCD of administration of prn meds. Responsible for documentation on prn meds and affect. Recognizes and can assist in the prevention of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
