Nurse RN - Lactation 7A - 3:30PM M-F

Overview

• The Lactation RN will assist patient's mothers with breastfeeding/pumping/kangaroo care; provide education and support to parents and staff on the benefits of breastfeeding; collect and maintain data on breastfed infants; provide education on benefits of donor breast milk when appropriate, assist with consents; manage and monitor the ordering, supplies, and storage for banked breast milk sufficient for the unit needs; assist staff with preparation and storage of expressed breast milk; and assist with discharge teaching/education.
• The Lactation RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse, when assigned.
• The Lactation RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and /or Sitters.
• Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served.
• The Register Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse.

Qualifications

Required Education

• Associates' degree.
• Specific course work: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

• Licensure/Certifications: Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida BLS from the American Heart Association Effective July 1, 2018, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Existing employees are required to have NRP by December 31, 2018. IBCLC Professional Certification within 24 months of hire or transfer into the position
