About the role

The Med Tech provides compassionate care to residents in Assisted Living and Garden Cottage areas, assisting with activities of daily living and medication administration. Responsibilities also include maintaining the resident's environment through light housekeeping and monitoring health conditions to ensure safety and quality of life.

Penick Village Inc. a Continuing Care Life Plan community is seeking compassionate and dedicated Full time 7am-7pm Med Techs to join our team in the Assisted Living and Garden Cottage area of our community.

The Med Tech will provide care to the residents living in Penick Village's Residential Assisted Living and Garden Cottage.

Their primary role is to protect, sustain, and nurture the residents by providing assistance with activities of daily living, and meeting other needs as required.

The core goal of the work of the Med Tech will be to provide assistance, which promotes a high quality of life and a positive resident experience.

The responsibilities of the Med Tech include care of the resident and the resident's environment, including laundry and light housekeeping, providing life enrichment opportunities and creating a positive dining experience with appropriate nutrition.

As part of an interdependent team of skilled and caring people, the Med Tech must act in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our Penick Village, to ensure that the highest quality of resident care and safety is maintained at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

Recognize and respond to the needs of residents Provide and maintain a home for residents. Administering of medication. Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc. in an informative and descriptive manner. Use only authorized abbreviations established by this facility when recording information. Report all changes in the resident's condition to the Director as soon as possible. Report all accidents and incidents you observe on the shift that they occur. Ensure that the resident's room is ready for receiving the resident (i.e., bed made, name tags up, admission items available, etc.) Greet residents and escort them to their apartment/suite. Introduce resident to other residents and personnel as appropriate. Make resident comfortable (i.e., put to bed, get water, etc.) Inventory and mark the resident's personal possessions as instructed. Store resident's clothing. Assist residents with packing their personal belongings when they are being transferred or discharged. Transport residents as needed. Assist with loading/unloading residents from vehicles as necessary. Promote autonomy of resident in decision-making. Residents have choices. Review care plans daily to determine if changes in the resident's daily care routine have been made on the care plan. Inform supervisor of any changes in the resident's condition so that appropriate information can be entered on the resident's care plan. Ensure that your notes/documentation reflect that the care plan is being followed. Report changes in the resident's condition to the Clinical Support Team (CST) per Penick Village change in condition protocols. Assist resident with personal care functions, including: Dental and mouth care. Dressing and grooming. Hair care. Nail care. Bowel and bladder care Other personal and hygiene care. Observe and report the presence of pressure areas to prevent decubitis. Communicate with co-workers at all levels to adequately meet the needs of residents. Meet with the clinical support team as scheduled or needed, to discuss residents needs and progress in identifying and correcting problems. Report accidents and incidents when they occur. Maintain a lift free environment. Measure and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, height, anatomical dimension/circumference, etc. as necessary. Report any resident abuse or suspected abuse to the Healthcare Administrator or designee immediately. Follow established safety precautions and observe, monitor and intervene or report to the Healthcare Administrator or designee, unsafe conditions in Penick Village. Follow established smoking regulations and report violations. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of resident care, procedures, and documentation. Serve and clean up after meals and snacks. Launder clothing, linen and other articles. Clean and maintain the environment in partnership with housekeeping to include daily trash collection, removal of food and other items, and light housekeeping. Observe standard precautions per Penick Village policy. Document observed data per organization policy. Keep all areas of the Penick Village clean. Perform routine housekeeping duties. Attend meetings and in-service training as scheduled. Perform other related duties as required by the resident. Respond to emergency alert and calls by Independent Living Residents. Assist with emergency calls. If scheduled in Garden Cottage, one must understand budget and adhere to as well as additional responsibilities to include: Maintaining supplies Prepare and serve meals Schedule life enrichment activities Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Required to have completed a CNA course and satisfactorily completed a competency assessment, approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Listed on the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry in good standing. Must provide proof of current CPR Certification. Experience in long term care preferred. Must maintain re-certification credentials as a CNA and CPR Certification. Requirements

Candidates must have completed a CNA course with a competency assessment approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and be in good standing on the state registry. Current CPR certification is required, and experience in long-term care is preferred.
