Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Procedural Recovery and Short Stay Unit. This dept is located on the 2nd floor sharing space alongside Cardiac Cath holding. This position is for a Temporary Full time Night Shift Traveler. $70 hourly rate Education Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required Certification/Licensure Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing Basic Life Support (BLS) ACLS Experience Must have two or more years of current acute care hospital RN experience. The ideal candidate will have >2 years cardiac experience. The candidate must be ACLS and BLS certified and able to confidently read telemetry. Our patients are on tele, but not monitored by central telemetry. We monitor our own patients.
Department/Position
Overview: Our Short Stay Unit runs between 6-8 beds starting on Monday at 11am through Saturday ending at 11am. Every other week the RN will work Three 12 hour shifts Tuesday - Friday and the other week will be Monday 11am to 7pm along with that Saturday of 7am to 11am and 2 other 12 hour shifts Tuesday through Friday. We admit and prepare patients for their Cardiac Catheterization (interventional and diagnostic), Electrophysiology procedures such as cardiac ablations, Cardioversions, surgery, and ICDs/Pacemakers etc. We also admit patients post procedure who are being watched overnight and discharged the next day. The cardiac short stay unit will provide patient care until the patient is discharged or admitted for further observation.
