• Reports to: Clinic Manager Veterinary Assistant must have knowledge of animal husbandry, including a basic knowledge of medicine. They must be able to successfully and humanely restrain animals. Responsible for sterilizing and maintaining equipment, and performing clerical and administrative tasks, are required. A Veterinary Assistant is expected to keep all areas of the clinic clean, organized, and stocked with supplies. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding clients and patients for whom the clinic provides veterinary services. This position may require some weekends and does require on-call after a probationary training period is complete.

• Position: Handling frightened and or unpredictable animals safely and humanely Prepares animals for surgery; induces and monitors anesthesia. Monitors animals during recovery Cleaning / sanitizing of all clinic areas and surfaces including kennels Autoclaves and maintains all surgical packs Assist on walk-in vaccine clinic days Maintains constant vigilance regarding open doorways that could allow pets to escape from the facility Establish and maintain ongoing training Other assigned tasks, as necessary Knowledge, skill, and abilities needed to perform the

• Requirements: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have a clean driving record. Experience a plus.

• Demands: Possess the physical strength and ability to stand for an entire shift, when needed Frequently required to stand, sit, walk, run, jump, bend, twist, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
