The technologist assists physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional radiologic procedures, which includes positioning patients, applying radiation safety standards, and operating imaging equipment like fluoroscopy systems. Responsibilities also involve preparing and administering contrast media, assisting with monitoring patients during procedures, and performing calculations related to patient records.
Candidates must possess a Diploma or Associate's degree or higher in Science or a related field, along with an active RT(R) registration and Kentucky Radiation Operator Certification upon hire. While no prior work experience is strictly required, preferred credentials include the VIR credential from ARRT, and ACLS certification is required within 12-24 months.
