Responsible for collecting and processing blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing. Operates with a moderate level of supervision, identifying and resolving common issues independently. Provide effective training and education to new employees and students as assigned.

Essential Functions
Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
Ensures accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, processing, handling, and transportation of specimens.
May assist in the recovery of patients experiencing adverse reactions and provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the inpatient setting.
Communicates effectively with patients and patient care teams, explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
Troubleshoots and resolves specimen, order, and common operational issues within the work area.
Provides some training and education to new staff and students.
Handles sharps and biohazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
Works fluently with computer programs and systems, and complies with HIPAA regulations.
Performs other tests, administration, and specimen collection as assigned.
