Assist medical providers by performing clinical tasks such as drawing blood, administering injections, and preparing patients for examinations. Manage administrative duties including scheduling appointments, updating patient records, and maintaining medical supply inventory.
Requires a Medical Assistant Certificate and a high school diploma, with an associate degree preferred. Candidates should have BLS/CPR certification and knowledge of CHDP guidelines and medical terminology.
English and Spanish preferred. Must feel comfortable working with underserved communities. Able to adapt to evolving operational needs highly preferred. Previous experience working in a medical office setting is a plus. JOB SUMMARY This position will assist medical providers in providing medical care to clinic patients under the direct supervision of the doctor or nurse. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Draw blood, give injections, administer skin tests, and obtain laboratory specimens. Prepare patients for doctor examinations. Set up necessary instruments. Take medical history and check vital signs. Schedule appointments. Update and maintain patient records. Monitor and maintain medical supply inventory. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsKNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and equipment. Knowledge of Child Health and Disability Prevention Program (CHDP) guidelines, immunization schedules, and AAP periodicity table. High level of professionalism, patient service, and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and eClinicalWorks (eCW) or similar. Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining a necessary degree of confidentiality. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining quality standards. Ability to build productive working relationships. Ability to work in culturally and racially diverse populations and in lower socio-economic conditions. Ability to pleasantly and effectively represent the organization. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent OR a combination of education and related work experience. Associate’s degree or equivalent OR a combination of education and related work experience preferred. 0 to 1 year of related experience. CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE / LANGUAGE Medical Assistant Certificate. Must provide proof of required vaccinations by federal, state, and local funding sources. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. BLS/CPR certified. Employees driving personal vehicles for El Proyecto business must provide El Proyecto proof of a valid driving license, and auto liability insurance. El Proyecto will reimburse employees for their mileage at the current rate set by the Internal Revenue Service. To receive mileage reimbursement, the employee must log their mileage and submit the mileage expense report to their Appropriate Administrator.
