Dental Hygienist ~ Health Department

Example of duties

Preventive Care Delivery - Perform dental cleanings, periodontal therapy, fluoride treatments, and sealant placement. Clinical Assessment - Conduct oral health screenings, charting, and risk assessments in accordance with state practice guidelines. Patient Education - Provide instruction on oral hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention tailored to individual patient needs. Infection Control Compliance - Maintain strict adherence to OSHA, CDC, and clinic protocols. Electronic Health Records - Document all services accurately and promptly in the EHR system. Community Outreach Support - Participate in school‑based programs, mobile clinics, and community events as assigned. Team Collaboration - Coordinate care with dental providers and public health staff to ensure continuity and quality of services.

Minimum Qualifications

Current Registered Dental Hygienist license in the State of Utah or eligibility to obtain licensure. Certification in local anesthesia preferred. CPR/BLS certification required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with commitment to patient‑centered care. Demonstrated interest in public health and serving diverse populations. Utah Driver's License is required.
