Provides technical support to obstetricians and nurses in operating and delivery room settings by preparing supplies and instrumentation. Responsible for maintaining a sterile environment and providing direct and indirect care to neonates and female patients.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and a current Surgical Tech Certification. Preference is given to graduates of an approved Operating Room Technician program with 3 years of surgical scrub experience.

Classification: Non Exempt
High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an approved Operating Room Technician program preferred.
3 years of Surgical Scrub Tech experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Current Surgical Tech Certification required, or if employed prior to July 1, 2021, registration with the Virginia Board of Medicine required.
Ability to create and maintain a sterile field. Knowledge of specialized instrumentation and equipment for various surgical procedures. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure materials. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Basic understanding of medical terminology. Computer skills.
