Requirements summary

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a team-oriented MRI Technologist to join our Imaging Team!
The MRI Technologist performs a variety of specialized tasks involved in the performance of MR scans.
Perform MR duties in compliance with Imaging Department and legal requirements.
Performs MR imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols.
Ensures operation of MR equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Has thorough knowledge of MRI physics and principals, with emphasis on continually learning the new applications and developments as they become available.
Under guidance and approval of site Radiologist, administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols.
Assist radiologist with interventional MR procedures.
Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
Prepares patient for MR procedures by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
Carefully screens all patients, patients' family members and visitors entering the MRI scanning environment according to screening criteria and safety guidelines.
Maintains production and quality of MR images by following established standards and procedures.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Qualifications
and Preferred Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of an approved two-year Radiologic Technology program.
MR registered, registry eligible, or is actively documenting cases performed in order to apply, sit for and pass registry within 18 months of accepting position.
