Our 24/7 emergency and critical care team serves small animal patients across Ventura and surrounding counties, accepting walk-ins and referrals.

We understand and embrace the importance of every pet as a family member and treat each one with the utmost care.Learn more at about us at horizonvets.comJob DescriptionJob duties include, but are not limited to:Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises.

May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.Whether you’re looking to just be a master of your role or trying to grow into that next career move, you’ll have opportunities through a variety of virtual and hands on, interactive training and continuing development!QualificationsWe're Looking For:A Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) preferred, but not required2+ year of professional experience requiredConsistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shiftsAvailability to work weekendsExcellent client communication and medical record management skillsComprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operationsExpertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniquesProficiency in various sample collection methods (blood, urine, fecal, skin specimens)Experience in radiographic positioning and image captureExperience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoringCommitment to professional ethics and continuous learningAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazardsPreferred Skills for Internal Medicine Technician:Experience or interest in internal medicine (oncology experience is a plus)Familiarity with endoscope handling, cleaning, and troubleshootingExpertise in anesthesia for critical patients, including ventilator trainingStrong forethought and preparation skills (setting up for the day and prepping for upcoming procedures)Comfort with high-frequency euthanasia casesWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to providing exceptional care to patients and clients.
