Perform diagnostic imaging procedures across multiple modalities, ensuring accurate patient positioning and contrast administration. Provide clinical leadership, patient education, and maintain equipment inventory within the radiology department.
This role provides safe and effective patient care while performing imaging procedures and operating medical equipment. It also includes helping lead the department, teaching students and coworkers, preparing patients, following safety rules, managing supplies, and responding to emergencies when needed.
Schedule: One, 8-hour shift, and two, 12 hour shifts
SHIFT: Nights, 6pm-6am
Essential duties and responsibilities
Maintains active status in the modalities in which they practice.
Assists the department coordinator by providing clinical leadership, completes projects, advanced level clinical duties and regular assignments as requested.
Is competent in all exams performed within the assigned modalities.
Corroborates patient clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by the radiologist.
Prepares the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort; immobilizes patient as necessary.
Practices aseptic technique as necessary,
Prepares and administers contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed; starts and maintains intravenous access.
Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
Provides patient education.
Provides input for supply and equipment decisions, maintains control of inventory and supplies for assigned area.
Provides practical instruction for students and partners.
Observes universal protocol, standard precautions and appropriate patient identifiers.
Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
Other duties, tasks as assigned.
Requires graduation from an accredited radiography program and 2-4 years of experience as a Radiographer. Must be ARRT registered in Radiography with BLS/CPR certification and relevant state licensure for Wisconsin or Illinois.
Works independently, with limited direct supervision.
