The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients while developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians. They are responsible for supervising therapy aides and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to support resident independence.
Candidates must hold a current California Occupational Therapy License and CPR certification. A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy is required, with a Master's or Doctorate preferred.
As a Staff Occupational Therapist, you will evaluate and treat patients, participate in care planning, communicate with interdisciplinary team members, and help train staff to support therapy goals. Your work plays a critical role in supporting residents’ independence and safe return to daily activities. Key Responsibilities Evaluate patients within 24 hours or 1 business day of physician referral Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians Provide direct therapy services in accordance with care plans and regulatory guidelines Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and therapy aides as needed Educate patients, families, and nursing staff in maintenance and discharge programs Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care conferences, and in-service training Recommend and assist in ordering adaptive equipment for resident safety and independence Maintain thorough, accurate documentation in accordance with OT Board and payer standards Support discharge planning and follow-up coordination Qualifications Current Occupational Therapy License in the State of California (Required) Current CPR Certification (Required) Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy; Master’s or Doctorate preferred Experience in geriatrics or post-acute care preferred but not required Excellent clinical, documentation, and interpersonal skills Reliable commute or relocation plan to Porterville, CA
