The CMA provides direct and indirect patient care, including taking medical histories, performing basic clinical tests, and assisting during examinations. Additionally, they handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and processing billing.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid certification from AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA, along with BLS certification. Graduation from a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited medical assistant program is strongly preferred.
