Perform technical aspects of medication preparation, distribution, and inventory control under the supervision of a pharmacist. Responsibilities include compounding IV medications, maintaining drug logs, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and safety guidelines.
Requires a high school diploma and pharmacy experience ranging from entry-level to seven years depending on the level. IV certification and Pharmacy Technician certification are strongly preferred or recommended.
Prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Checks all orders for completeness of information.
Level I High School diploma or equivalent. Entry level to three (3) years experience in a pharmacy. IV Certification strongly preferred. Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended. Level II (in addition to Level I requirements) Minimum three (3) to five (5) years experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills. Level Senior (in addition to Level I and II requirements) Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills. Oncology background preferred or extensive I.V. preparation experience. Completion of an ASCP accredited program or community college-based program recommended.
