About the Role

• The Registered Dental Hygienist at Schenectady Pediatric Dentistry plays a critical role in promoting and maintaining oral health for pediatric patients.
• This position involves delivering comprehensive preventive dental care, including cleaning teeth, applying sealants, and educating children and their caregivers on proper oral hygiene practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current and valid Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in the state of New York.
• Completion of an accredited dental hygiene program.
• CPR certification.
• Strong knowledge of dental hygiene practices, infection control, and safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with special needs children.
• Additional certifications such as Local Anesthesia or Nitrous Oxide administration.
• Familiarity with electronic dental records (EDR) systems.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on child-friendly communication.
• Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, to better serve diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings and prophylaxis on pediatric patients, including scaling and polishing teeth.
• Apply fluoride treatments and dental sealants to prevent tooth decay in children.
• Conduct oral health assessments and document patient histories accurately.
• Educate patients and their families on effective oral hygiene techniques and dietary recommendations.
• Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures as needed, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
