Provide comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative services for hearing and balance disorders in adults and children. Perform hearing evaluations, fit hearing aids, and collaborate with physicians to ensure optimum patient care.
Requires a Master's degree in Audiology, ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence, and Massachusetts licensure. Candidates should have 1-3 years of related work experience and proficiency with computer systems.
Essential Responsibilities: Perform full diagnostic hearing evaluation for pediatric and adults by utilizing the following: thorough case history intake; pure tone air and bone conduction, speech sensitivity and speech discrimination; tympanometry , acoustic reflex threshold and decay; otoacoustic emissions as applicable. Interpret results of diagnostic evaluation and make appropriate recommendations for follow-up care to include: further audiological assessment, medical intervention and/or rehabilitative measures. Communicate diagnostic findings to patients, family members, physicians and other sources in concise, tactful and language appropriate manner. Perform hearing aid evaluation with appropriate recommendation. Describe and differentiate between digital technology levels and appropriateness for patient's hearing needs.Demonstrate effective technique for earmold impression and competence in programming and fitting the instruments. Effectively administer, interpret and apply hearing handicap scales, real-ear analysis and sound field measures. Troubleshoot hearing instruments. Perform routine maintenance and minor shell repair/modification on all styles of hearing instruments. Perform and interpret electro-acoustic analysis of hearing aids. Required Qualifications: Master's degree required in Audiology. Doctoral degree preferred in Audiology 1-3 years related work experience required. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech and Hearing Association . Possess or be eligible for licensure in Audiology from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. All areas of service must be performed in keeping with current standards of practice as defined by BIDHC/APG, the Medical Center and the American Speech and Hearing Association. Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Experience in diagnosis and remediation of hearing and balance disorders with proven skills in AEP, ENG/EVG and digital hearing aid fitting.
