About the Role

The CNA/Certified Medication Aide (CMA) plays a critical role in supporting the healthcare team by safely administering medications to residents in long-term care settings.

This position ensures that all medication administration complies with established protocols and regulatory standards, thereby promoting resident health and well-being.

The CMA collaborates closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to monitor residents for medication effectiveness and potential side effects.

Attention to detail and strong communication skills are essential to accurately document medication administration and report any concerns promptly.

Ultimately, the CMA contributes to a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment that enhances the quality of life for residents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current certification as a Certified Nurse Aide & Medication Aide in the state of Texas.
  • Completion of a state-approved Medication Aide training program.
  • Basic knowledge of medication administration principles and long-term care practices.
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for medication documentation.
  • Additional certifications related to geriatric care or patient safety.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Continuing education in medication management or related healthcare topics.

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications to residents according to established care plans and regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitor residents for adverse reactions or side effects and report any concerns to nursing staff promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records and documentation in compliance with facility policies.
