The Sedation Recovery Nurse monitors post-operative vital signs and levels of consciousness to ensure patient stability after sedation. They are responsible for patient education, updating medical records, and performing emergency interventions when necessary.
Candidates must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with an Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing and at least one year of PACU experience. Valid BLS certification is required, while PALS and ACLS certifications are preferred.
Utilize critical care skills to assess body temperature and track other indicators of stability or complications. Administer diligent care via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment. Assess patients' condition after a surgery has been performed Measure, record patients’ vital signs and ensure that all vitals are within normal range Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications Update charts, patient files, and records Determine when patients are ready to be released Collaborate with the dental team on post-operative patient care Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies Performs to the highest integrity by adhering to all government regulations, company standards, and company compliance programs Other duties as assigned
