About the Role

The General Pulmonologist will provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient pulmonary care, managing a broad spectrum of respiratory conditions while collaborating closely with primary care providers, hospitalists, specialists, and care teams throughout the health system.

Clinical Responsibilities

Develop efficient workflows and close relationships with referrals and community partners to continue to grow the Incidental Nodule and Lung Cancer Screening Programs

Proficient and Experienced in Robotic Bronchoscopy, Endobronchial Ultrasound and ultrasound-guided thoracentesis and chest tube placement

Interpret diagnostic testing, including laboratory studies, imaging, pulmonary function test

Diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of pulmonary disorders, including COPD, asthma, pleural effusions, sarcoid, lung nodules etc.

Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication management, and lifestyle modifications.

Collaborate with primary care providers, specialists, and multidisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated patient care

Document high-quality, compliant clinical notes in the EMR and support clinic access, throughput, and patient experience

Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve outcomes (e.g., lung cancer screening rates, timeliness to diagnosis and treatment)

Participate in practice call coverage and practice meetings as required

Required Qualifications

  • Education & Licensure
  • Board Certified or Board-Eligible in Pulmonary Medicine
  • Active Maryland physician medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • Current DEA license and Maryland Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) license
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or approved provider)
  • Unrestricted medical license with no history of suspension or revocation
  • Eligible for participation with all payers

Requirements

Requires Board Certification or Eligibility in Pulmonary Medicine and a valid Maryland medical license. A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in Pulmonary Medicine with advanced bronchoscopy is preferred.
