Senior CommUnity Care of Northern KY PACE is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare affiliate of the Volunteers of America parent organization.

The COTA provides quality ongoing therapy to all patients within the PACE Program per physician’s orders and under guidance from the Occupational Therapist. Communicates on an ongoing basis with therapist, participants and staff, regarding the progress of care provided. The COTA will assist the therapist with participant/patient related activities, direct participant/patient care and case management; and keeps PACE records as per VOANS, PACE policies and procedures and CMS Regulations.

Schedule: 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday

Salary

$24-$29/hr - depending on previous experience

Required qualifications

1. Graduate from a Therapy Assistant accredited curriculum. Eligible for licensure in the State of Kentucky. 2. Is a registered assistant the state of Kentucky or is eligible for registration in the state of employment.

Skills and Abilities

• 1.
• Ability to understand medical terminology and how it applies to Therapy in order to communicate with participants, staff and physicians, and to prepare meaningful reports.
• 2.
• Adequate strength and endurance to meet the physical demands involved in using equipment, tools, and materials while instructing participants.
• 3.
• Verbal and written ability is necessary to understand oral and written instructions; to communicate with participants, staff and family; and to prepare reports as directed by the Registered Therapist.
• 4.
• Motor coordination, manual and finger dexterity are necessary to coordinate movements of eyes, hands and fingers and to manipulate materials while instructing residents.
• 5.
• Spatial and form perception are necessary to visualize shapes, patterns and other pertinent details in specifications and pictures.
• 6.
• Ability to undertake a variety of changing duties as required by many different projects.
• 7.
• Ability to work under specific instructions as to the scope of a project, but to use initiative and judgment in adapting intervention to patient.
• 8.
• Ability to observe all necessary precautions in the use of equipment to prevent injury to participant or staff.
• 9.
• Though a rarity, be willing to work weekends and holidays, as needed, on a rotational basis.
• 10.
• Be willing to travel and work at other VOA facilities, as needed.
• 11.
• Maintain productivity standards as directed by supervisor.
• 12.
• Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
