Provide nursing care and interventions for patients in the perianesthesia phase under the direction of a physician or RN. Maintain accurate documentation and manage medication administration and pain assessments for diverse patient populations.
Must possess the necessary licensure and certification to practice as an LPN. Requires knowledge of medication actions, side effects, and the ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments.
Executive Urology - Sandusky, Norwalk & Bellevue Offices
Under the direction of the physician/provider, provides nursing care in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement care, nursing interventions and procedures necessary as the patient progresses through the perianesthesia phase of care in order to achieve optimal patient outcomes, under the direction of the RN.
Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the health care team, in order to endure quality of care.
Demonstrates knowledge for administering and recording of medications, can also demonstrate knowledge of commonly used medications: action, dose and side effects.
Demonstrates routine assessments for PONV and implements appropriate rescue treatments.
Able to perform a comprehensive pain assessment using appropriate pain scales and uses both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods to control pain.
Demonstrates knowledge in the care of the pediatric and geriatric population and their family/caregiver.
Provides for the safe transfer of care with a communication handoff to the next phase of care.
Functions as a role model for current and new staff.
Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and attends all required training programs.
