Kahak Health Care Services is hiring dependable and compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals in the Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake areas.
DSPs help individuals build independence, stay active in the community, complete daily routines, attend appointments, and work toward person-centered goals. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, reliable, respectful, and passionate about helping others live with dignity and choice.
Key Responsibilities Support individuals with daily living skills and personal routines Assist with community activities, appointments, errands, and transportation needs Provide reminders and support for medication routines, as assigned and allowed Help individuals work toward ISP/person-centered goals Encourage independence, safety, communication, and community participation Document services accurately and on time using required systems Follow individual support plans, safety protocols, and agency procedures Communicate professionally with supervisors, team members, and families as appropriate Maintain confidentiality and protect individual rights at all times
Must be dependable, professional, and able to follow written support plans Experience as a DSP, caregiver, CNA, PCA, home health aide, or similar role preferred Must be able to complete required onboarding, background checks, and training Must have reliable transportation Valid driver’s license preferred CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain Must be able to document services accurately and communicate effectively
Preferred Skills Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or community-based supports Strong patience, professionalism, and problem-solving skills Ability to support individuals respectfully and person-centered Comfortable working independently in the community or in-home setting
Candidates must be dependable professionals with reliable transportation and the ability to pass background checks. Experience as a DSP, CNA, or PCA is preferred, along with CPR/First Aid certification.
