As an RN in this unit, you will ensure patients are prepped, prepared and comfortable before, during and after surgical procedures.

A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., with on-call responsibilities requiring arrival on campus within one hour when on call.
This schedule begins after the initial six-month orientation period, during which the hours are 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will: Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies.
Performing circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patient conditions and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure.
Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.
Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN) Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments *If performing moderate/procedural sedation, must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire One year RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency program Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.
Personal Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
