The PRSS utilizes lived experience with behavioral health and substance use to support youth and families through recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care. They collaborate with Care Coordinators and Child and Family Teams to facilitate individualized care planning and service delivery.
Candidates must be a Certified Peer Recovery Supporter through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and hold a high school diploma or GED. Demonstrated lived experience with behavioral health, substance use, or caregiving within child-serving systems is required.

The Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) is a paid, billable service role within OhioRISE Care Coordination that utilizes lived experience with behavioral health challenges, substance use, and/or system navigation to support youth and families. The PRSS provides strengths-based, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented support to promote engagement, self-advocacy, and successful participation in services.
This role is an integral member of the Child and Family Team (CFT) and works in collaboration with Care Coordinators and other providers to support individualized care planning and service delivery.
Certified Peer Recovery Supporter (Adult or Family Peer) through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
High school diploma or GED required.
Demonstrated lived experience with behavioral health, substance use, or caregiving within child-serving systems (e.g., mental health, child welfare, juvenile justice).
Ability to use lived experience in a professional, recovery-oriented manner.
Strong communication and engagement skills.
Experience working with youth and families with complex behavioral health needs.
Knowledge of OhioRISE, wraparound, and high-fidelity care coordination principles.
Experience participating in Child and Family Team (CFT) processes.
