Minimum Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical nursing experience, preferably in pre-admission testing, perioperative, or ambulatory care settings.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA) or Certified Preoperative Nurse (CPN).
  • Experience working in a hospital pre-admission testing or surgical services department.
  • Knowledge of perioperative nursing standards and protocols.
  • Strong familiarity with patient education techniques and health literacy principles.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-admission nursing assessments including reviewing patient medical histories, medications, allergies, and previous surgical experiences.
  • Perform necessary diagnostic tests and screenings such as vital signs, EKGs, and laboratory specimen collection to evaluate patient readiness for procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to communicate findings, clarify orders, and ensure all preoperative requirements are met.
  • Educate patients and their families about the pre-admission process, procedural expectations, and post-procedure care instructions.
  • Document all assessments, test results, and patient interactions accurately in the electronic health record system.
  • Identify and escalate any patient safety concerns or contraindications to the appropriate healthcare providers promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection control protocols.

Requirements
