Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with medical-surgical, neurological, and orthopedic conditions. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, and implement care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety.
Requires a valid DC RN license and at least 2 years of acute care experience. BLS certification is required, while a BSN degree and ACLS certification are strongly preferred.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients with medical, neurological, and orthopedic diagnoses. Monitor and interpret patient conditions, vital signs, telemetry, neurological status, pain levels, and post-operative recovery progress. Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies. Provide care for post-surgical orthopedic and neurological patients, including joint replacements, spinal surgeries, fractures, stroke, and other acute conditions. Perform neuro assessments and promptly recognize and escalate changes in patient condition. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and ancillary staff to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, discharge instructions, rehabilitation, and recovery expectations. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR). Promote patient safety initiatives, infection prevention standards, fall precautions, and quality improvement efforts. Respond effectively to emergencies, rapid response situations, and changes in patient acuity. Delegate appropriate patient care tasks to nursing support staff while maintaining accountability for patient outcomes. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development activities. Support organizational goals, regulatory compliance, and patient-centered care initiatives. Valid DC RN license. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. 2 years of acute care experience required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and strongly preferred Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
